Recover Stronger. Return to What You Love.

INJURY RECOVERY BUILT AROUND YOUR PERFORMANCE, NOT JUST YOUR PAIN.

Most people expect injury recovery to mean slowing down. Scaling back. Waiting. At EVO Performance Therapy, recovery works differently. Our approach to performance therapy is built on the belief that the right movement, applied intelligently and progressively, is the most powerful tool in rehabilitation. You do not have to choose between getting better and staying active. We build a plan that lets you do both.

This is not a passive rehab program. It is a performance-driven, clinician-led system that resolves the root cause of your injury, rebuilds your strength and movement quality, and returns you to full activity with a more resilient body than you had before.

Whether you are recovering from a specific injury, managing chronic pain that has not responded to other care, or working your way back after surgery, performance therapy at EVO is designed for exactly the kind of person who refuses to accept limitations as permanent.

You do not have to choose between getting better and staying active. We build a plan that lets you do both.

Improve Recovery

Performance therapy is what happens when physical rehabilitation and performance coaching are treated as the same thing rather than separate stages of care. It is built for active adults who need more than a standard protocol, and who are not willing to settle for returning to baseline when returning to peak is possible.

At EVO, performance therapy begins with a thorough movement evaluation conducted by a doctorate-level physical therapist or chiropractor. We do not simply assess where it hurts. We assess how your entire body moves, where mobility breaks down, where strength deficits are creating compensation patterns, and what those patterns mean for your long-term performance and injury risk. That information becomes the foundation for everything that follows.

From there, your care plan combines hands-on manual therapy with progressive, strength-forward movement coaching. Every session is one-on-one, 60 minutes, with your clinician present and engaged for the full duration. Nothing is delegated. Nothing is generic. And the plan does not end when your pain resolves. It continues until you have returned to full performance with the movement quality and physical resilience to sustain it.

Why Active Adults Need a Different Model

Traditional physical therapy operates on a model that was not designed for people with active lifestyles and performance goals. High patient volume means limited time with your provider. Insurance-driven protocols mean standardized treatment regardless of who you are or what you are trying to get back to. And care that ends at symptom resolution means the underlying patterns that caused the problem are often left unaddressed, which is why so many people find themselves cycling through the same injuries year after year.

Performance therapy at EVO is built around a different question entirely. Not: when will the pain stop? But: what does this person need to move, perform, and stay active at the level they are committed to? That question shapes every assessment, every session, and every plan we build.

"

“EVO is hands down the best. I started going for a specific back injury that was making sitting and standing difficult. After just a few visits I was moving normally again. The best part for me is that the treatment plan is not just about fixing the symptom. We are diving into the root cause and working to correct deficiencies that will prevent the problem from returning. I can already tell a difference not only in the gym but in everyday life.”

PERFORMANCE THERAPY FOR THE INJURIES THAT MATTER MOST TO YOU.

Knee Pain

Whether from a sudden injury or years of accumulated wear, knee pain is one of the most common reasons active adults step back from training. We identify the movement patterns and structural contributors driving your pain and build a plan to resolve it at the source.

Back Pain

Acute or chronic, lower or upper, back pain that keeps returning is almost always a movement problem as much as a structural one. We address mobility restrictions, stability deficits, and the compensation patterns that make back pain a recurring issue for active people.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Performance therapy at EVO addresses the full range of musculoskeletal and movement-related conditions that affect active adults and athletes. Every condition is approached through the same lens: what is driving this problem at the root, and what does this person need to return to full performance?

Below are the most common conditions we treat. If you do not see yours listed, reach out. If your problem involves how your body moves, we can help.

Shoulder Pain and Injuries

Shoulder dysfunction affects everything from lifting to swimming to everyday overhead movement. We evaluate shoulder mechanics in full to restore strength, stability, and pain-free range of motion without defaulting to rest as the only tool.

Hip Pain and Dysfunction

The hip is central to nearly every athletic and functional movement pattern. Hip pain, labral issues, and impingement require a thorough understanding of how the whole kinetic chain is contributing. We assess and treat accordingly.

Running Injuries

Overuse injuries in runners are rarely just about the injured tissue. They reflect training load, mechanics, and strength imbalances that need to be addressed together. We build return-to-running plans that resolve the injury and reduce the risk of recurrence.

Neck Pain and Headaches

Chronic neck pain and tension headaches are often rooted in posture, movement habits, and muscular imbalances that manual therapy and targeted movement work can address directly. We treat the system, not just the symptom.

Foot and Ankle Pain

Plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, ankle instability, and related conditions frequently respond well to a combination of manual therapy, load management, and progressive strength work. We help you stay on your feet and keep moving forward.

Tendon Injuries

Tendinopathy responds best to specific loading strategies, not rest. We apply current evidence on tendon rehabilitation to progressively restore strength and function so you can return to full training capacity.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is complex, but it is treatable. For active adults managing persistent pain conditions, we take a movement-first approach that addresses both the physical contributors and the performance goals that matter most to you.

Post-Surgical Recovery

Return to full activity after surgery requires more than basic rehabilitation. We work alongside your surgical team to drive recovery forward aggressively and intelligently, with a clear target: getting you back to the level of performance you had before.

Improve Recovery

BUILT FOR PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO SLOW DOWN

This program is not designed for someone who is willing to simply wait out an injury. It is designed for people who have too much at stake to accept a passive approach to recovery.

You might be a runner mid-training cycle who felt something change on a long run and needs to know exactly how to manage it without losing months of fitness. You might be a lifter whose shoulder has been limiting your overhead work for longer than you can justify ignoring. You might be a CrossFit athlete who keeps cycling through the same hip or knee issue and is tired of modifying around it. You might be in your 40s or 50s and have started noticing that your body takes longer to bounce back, and you want to get ahead of that rather than react to it.

You might have just had surgery and are staring at a recovery timeline that does not account for the fact that you have a marathon in six months, a competition coming up, or simply a standard of physical life you are not prepared to let go of.

What all of these people share is a mindset. They want to understand what is happening in their body, address it properly, and come back from it stronger. If that describes you, this program was built for you.

One-on-One Performance Therapy Sessions

Every session is 60 minutes with your clinician, one-on-one, for the full duration. Your provider is present and engaged from the first appointment to the last, combining hands-on treatment and movement coaching within each visit.

Manual Therapy and Hands-On Treatment

Targeted manual therapy is integrated into every session to restore tissue health, reduce pain, improve joint mobility, and reset the neuromuscular patterns contributing to your problem. This is not front-loaded into the first few appointments and then replaced with a home program.

Movement Coaching and Corrective Programming

Strength and movement work at EVO is not filler. It is the treatment. Every exercise is selected based on your assessment findings and advances as you do, building the strength, stability, and movement quality your body needs for the long term.

Training Plan Integration

Your recovery plan is built around your training schedule, not the other way around. Your clinician will help you understand what to continue, what to modify, and how to train in a way that supports your recovery from day one.

Performance Health Coaching and Ongoing Support

Recovery does not happen only in the clinic. Your clinician provides guidance on load management, recovery strategy, and the lifestyle factors that directly affect your progress. Between sessions, you have direct access to your clinician for questions, plan adjustments, and guidance when something changes.

MOVE FREELY, LIVE FULLY

A COMPLETE SYSTEM.
NOT A SET OF EXERCISES.

Performance therapy at EVO is a fully integrated system of care built to get you from where you are now to where you want to perform. Every component works together. Nothing is siloed.

Plan Duration

Most clients complete their Performance Therapy Care Plan in 2 to 6 months. The endpoint is not symptom resolution. It is full return to performance with the foundation to stay there.

PERFORMANCE HEALTHCARE. BUILT FOR A DIFFERENT STANDARD

Improve Recovery
  • Root-cause focus: We do not treat the location of pain. We identify the movement deficits, structural contributors, and compensation patterns driving your problem and address them at the source.

  • Performance-minded providers: Every EVO clinician holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy or Chiropractic and applies a performance-oriented clinical philosophy to every session. Athletic goals are not an afterthought here. They are built into how we practice.

  • Data-driven assessments: Our evaluations go beyond symptom location to assess movement quality, strength asymmetries, load tolerance, and biomechanical contributors, building a complete picture of what is actually happening.

  • Long-term resilience as the goal: We measure success by whether you have returned to full performance and built the foundation to stay there. The goal is never just getting you back to baseline.

EVO was built around a belief that active adults and athletes deserve a fundamentally different model of care. One that matches the level of commitment they bring to their training. One that does not treat recovery as a pause from performance, but as an extension of it.

“I started going to EVO with a big goal in mind: running a marathon in 2025. From the very beginning, Dr. Graves felt like a true partner in the process. When injuries popped up, he knew exactly how to adjust my training and incorporate the right exercises to keep me moving forward safely. I genuinely could not recommend EVO enough as a partner to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be.”

OUTCOMES THAT GO BEYOND PAIN RELIEF

Return to Running

Whether you are recovering from a running-related injury or returning to mileage after a period of pain and modification, we build a progressive return-to-running plan that addresses the mechanics, strength, and load management that keep you on the road for the long term.

Post-Surgical Recovery

Coming back from surgery requires more than following a standard protocol. We drive post-surgical recovery forward with the specificity and expertise needed to return you to your pre-surgical performance level and beyond.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

The goal of performance therapy at EVO is not simply to reduce pain. Pain relief is a starting point, not a destination. The outcomes our clients work toward are the ones that actually matter to their lives: returning to the activities they love, performing at the level they were before, and building the physical resilience to stay there.

Return to Lifting and Strength Training

Shoulder, knee, back, and hip injuries do not have to end your time in the gym. We build return-to-lifting progressions that respect your injury while moving aggressively toward your performance capacity.

Improved Mobility and Movement Quality

Many clients find that working through this program leaves them moving better than they did before the injury that brought them in. Addressing root causes often reveals and resolves contributing limitations that have been accumulating unnoticed.

Chronic Pain Resolution

For active adults who have been managing chronic pain for months or years, performance therapy at EVO offers a root-cause approach that addresses the movement dysfunction and physical contributors that other forms of care have not resolved.

Long-Term Resilience and Injury Prevention

Recovery done well does not just fix the current problem. It builds the strength, movement quality, and physical awareness to reduce the likelihood of future injury. Our clients leave with a body that is more capable, not just less painful.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT PERFORMANCE THERAPY

What is performance therapy?

Performance therapy is a model of care that integrates movement assessment, hands-on treatment, strength development, and performance coaching into one cohesive system. At EVO, it means treating you not as a patient with a symptom to manage, but as an active person with a performance level to protect. Every plan begins with understanding how your body moves and what is actually driving your problem, then builds progressively toward full recovery and beyond.

How is EVO different from traditional physical therapy?

Traditional PT is typically built around insurance-driven models that prioritize volume, which limits how much time and attention each patient receives. At EVO, every session is one-on-one with a doctorate-level clinician for the full 60 minutes. Your plan is built from scratch based on your movement, your goals, and your life. And care does not stop when your pain goes away. It continues until you have returned to full performance and have the foundation to stay there.

Can I continue training while in treatment?

In most cases, yes. One of the core principles of EVO's care model is that we build your recovery plan around your training, not the other way around. We will help you understand what to continue, what to modify, and how to manage load in a way that supports your recovery. Staying active is part of the plan, not a risk to manage around.

Do you work with athletes and active adults?

Yes. Performance therapy at EVO is designed for people who train, compete, and move at a high level. We understand what it means to have performance goals that do not pause for an injury, and we build care plans that reflect that. Whether you are a competitive athlete, a recreational runner, a CrossFit member, or simply someone committed to staying active, this program is built for you.

Can performance therapy help with chronic pain?

Yes. Chronic pain in active adults often reflects unresolved movement dysfunction, accumulated compensation patterns, or training-related imbalances that standard care has not addressed at the root. EVO's movement-first, root-cause approach is well suited to chronic pain presentations that have not responded to other forms of treatment.

Is performance therapy appropriate after surgery?

Absolutely. Post-surgical recovery is one of the most common starting points for performance therapy at EVO. We work closely with your surgical team and build an aggressive, intelligent return-to-activity plan that goes well beyond basic rehabilitation. The goal is not just to recover from surgery. It is to come back stronger and more resilient than before.

How long does a Performance Therapy Care Plan last?

Most clients complete their plan in two to six months, depending on the nature and complexity of their condition and their individual goals. Rather than a fixed timeline, your plan evolves based on how you progress. The endpoint is not symptom resolution. It is when you have returned to full activity with the movement quality and physical resilience to stay there.
